NEVER GIVE UP IN LIFE - SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL
Many years ago in England, there was a little boy who talked like a stammer while in school, he was never considered good for anything! When war came, they rejected him with the comment “we need men”! He decided to join politics. While in politics, he once rose to address the House of Commons and they all walked out on him because he was so boring! He often spoke to empty chairs and echoes were his best companions! But this young man knew that life is not fair! He knew that life does not owe you any explanations or apologies! He refused to blame his stars, his parents, his family, his environment, his friends, his God or himself. He knew that:
“Your past cannot be changed, but you can change your tomorrow by you actions today”.
So, he decided to march on! And what was the result of his stubborn determination? One day, he became the Prime minister of Britain and led his country to a resounding victory in the world way! Ladies and gentlemen, that so called ”weak” and “boring” man was the popular Sir. Winston Churchill! When asked to address some graduating students many years later, on the secret of his success, he only said the following words as his secret to the crowded and expectant hall: “Never, never, never give up in life!” And his lecture was over.
“Neither the wise man nor a brave man lie down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him!”
This man who was called “stammerer”, became an orator! This man who was not considered, as a man fit for the army, became a ruthless war General! This man that was written off as a politician, became the Prime Minister and Commander-In-Chief of his powerful nation!
Beloved be courageous! Yours story too, can change! Don't be a victim of unfair life. Make a quick choice. Yours future is bright! You will get there!
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in other; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
We are all faced with tough decisions. It is part of the human dilemma. Which path do you take, this one or that one? Certainly, there are no absolute guarantees when it comes to charting your personal course for a better future. However, the fundamental habits I want to share with you is never to give you in life. So take up the challenge, make a decision now to refocus and become the best you can be, one day at a time.
“If you fail, it is your fault; and if you succeed, it is your fault. The choice is entirely yours.”
Because of what you have read about Sir Winston Churchill, you are now more aware of how life works. So you have no more excuses for future failure, unless you don't push yourself to make necessary changes. There are thousands of people, just like you, who have turned their lives into wonderful success stories simply because they decided never to give up on their dream.
“In a decision-taking, the point is not who needs changing, the point is who is willing to change.”
You can do the same. You really can. Believe in yourself. Soak up the knowledge you have gleaned from your failures and focus on taking the next step, whatever that may be. Make a priority. Then take another, and pretty soon your life will change. I guarantee it! With a little practice and persistence, new habits will become a part of you. A year from now you will say, “look how much I have changed, and look at the results I can hardly believe it.”
Finally, remember, you can really become the world's greatest. It's your responsibility to do so, and also your destiny. Go forward now with courage and new hope! Your future awaits you - seize it boldly. Therefore, you have been given a treasure above a billion naira, pounds sterling or dollars - your life! Don't waste it. Make it count! Make it exciting! Make it a challenge! Discipline it! Write it! Act and may you achieve all desires in your heart.
